Q: What is Coffs Physie & Dance?
A: Coffs Physie & Dance are a part of the Australian Physie and Dance Association (APDA).
Our teachers are committed to guiding all our girls to get the knowledge, skills, confidence and passion to succeed in their chosen art, whether it is in dance, physie or both. Regardless of whether they wish to compete at the top level, do it for exercise or purely for fun, we will help them to achieve their goals. Physie is fun. It’s social. It promotes fitness and a general sense of well-being, and self-worth. Coffs Physie & Dance is a wonderful way to meet people and make everlasting friendships. We encourage healthy living and sportsmanship and invite you to become a "physie sister" and an important part of our "physie family
Q: What is APDA?
A: Under the direction of Australia’s finest creative physie instructors and choreographers, APDA aims to bridge the gap between the traditional school of physie and the world of contemporary dance, to create an innovative dance sport that reflects physie and dance for the 21st century.
APDA offers the opportunity to explore music, rhythm and dance in a safe and nurturing environment with a friendly and supportive atmosphere designed to make fitness and dance fun and rewarding.
Members can take part to compete, or just to enhance their fitness and sense of wellbeing surrounded by like minded people. We welcome member feedback and offer the opportunity to have input into your Club and the organisation.
Q: How old do you have to be to start physie?
A: We have a fantastic affordable little physettes class held on 4pm on tuesdays which has been designed for children up to 5 years.
Q: What age group am I in?
A: the Age you partcipate in is the age you are at the 31st of august.
We have classes starting from physettes (up to 5 years) all the way to ladies (60+)
Q: When can I start?
A: New members are welcome anytime, the new dances for the year start being taught in February.
Q: How much do lessons cost?
A: Please see Timetable and Fee's
Q: what does my registration cover?
A: Includes insurance, DVD of syllabus and music)
Q: Do I need to pay upfront?
A: No. Come along and have a 2 free trial lessons and find out more about physie and then if you love it as much as we do join us! registration needs to be paid by the 3rd lesson.
Q: What do you actually do in class?
A: Learn dances and exercise routines, technique, stretching and have heaps of fun!
Q: How many times a week do you go to class?
A: Twice a week
Q: What do you wear to class?
A: You can wear a leotard or singlet/croptop and tights Our colours are black, white and silver!
Hair must be neatly tied up off the face. No shoes!
Q: Is there anything my daughter needs to do outside of classes?
A: We recommend stretching for at least 15mins before class. This can be done quietly at the at the back hall as there are classes on.
We also recommend practicing :)
Q: Do you have to compete?
A: We encourage our members to compete in individual and team competitions, displays and exhibitions. It is each member's choice and no pressure is applied to compete. We are happy for any member to just come along and have fun.
Q: What sort of competitions are there?
A: There are individual and teams - more information is sent out about the comps closer to the date.
Q: Are there any other performances?
A: Coffs Physie & Dance has a lot of fun over the year with performances at expo days, talent competitions, roller derby, bunnings barbeques and more. We also have a mid-year sticker performance as well as our end of year concert which includes physie as well as performances choreographed by Karlie showcasing our amazingly talented girls. Coffs Physie and dance also holds a mid-year sleepover which includes workshops, talent quest, movie and a chance for the girls to bond as physie sisters.
